Book Title: Looking for JJ
Summary:
JJ, which stands for Jennifer Jones, were the centre of attention in the newspaper. Everyone was looking for her as she was involved in a child murder years ago when she was young. Everyone thought that she was locked up in the prison but in fact she was released months ago after being locked up for 6years and leading a normal life with a job as a waitress in the cafe, friends like Rosie and a boyfriend, Frankie.
This book is divided into 4components: Alice tully, which she renamed herself after being released, Jennifer Jones, Alice Tully, Kate Rickman, descibing the events happening before and after she was released and why she was locked up in the prison. The story is filled with tension which the author recalling about the times when Jennifer really got caught in the first section. It also gives people a sense of helplessness when people doesnt give Jennifer a chance to forget everything about the past and records how troubled jennifer is over her past mistakes despite a new identity.
In the past, hennifer lead a lonely life, she wasnt abused but instead ABANDONED, not cared by mother and pushed to her gran to take care of. She had problems controlling her temper whenever she is sad, she will vent her frustration using violence, leading to death of Michelle livingstone when she insulted her mother. All this unhappy childhood lead to her being locked up.
Years past, but she couldnt get away from the trauma, her identity exposed leading the loss of trust from her boyfriend and had to live all over with a new identity.
Reflections:
In short, I feel that this book is very interesting and keeps people occupied, the author had made an effort to make the story a tense one and lets the reader to rean more to understand what happened after. It successfully describe how hard it is for an ex-offender to repent for their mistakes and live a brand new life over again.
This book is touching and one pharse that the author made hit me the most,
NO matter how much you think of it or cry about it you cant change a single second of it.
it describes how despair and remorseful how jennifer felt then, although she had been trying to lead a normal life as hard as she can but the past memories was never off her mind. It also shows how helpless is jenniferwhen she attempted to forget about the past only to face betrayal by her *friends* dugging up the past.
The author has a vivid descpition about how she felt, the surrounding, the interaction between human be it love, betrayal, friendship making the story more real-life and touching.
The author is clever such that he doesnt give you the story one all at a time but keeps people in suspencse using the transition of 3identities unvealing mystery 1by1
I like this story in the sense that it reflects how life is abouy, how love could become fear in one seconde. After the ugly past of jennifer is revealed, frankie love towards her became fear that the child killer would hurt her sister instead.
Thats the sadest part of the story. Betrayal.
