Authour: Shel Leanne
Synopsis: How did a junior senator from Illinois who has the thinnest resume among all other presidential candidates manage to go to the White House? Of course, there are many other factors in play which helped President-elect Barack Obama, but one of his most appealing factor is his oratorical prowness. His speeches inspires people, his words so full of meaning. Sure he may not always be the one writing the speeches, but he delivers them like a master. No other presidential candidate rhetorical skills could match Mr Obama's charisma. Lets take an extract from a speech he made in the 2004 Democratic Convention, the speech which rocketed him to fame.
'E plurib us unum. Out of many, one.'
"Well, I say to them tonight, there is not a liberal America and a conservative America — there is the United States of America. There is not a Black America and a White America and Latino America and Asian America — there’s the United States of America"(crowd goes wild)
You see how beautifully he put those words together and in such a smooth-flowing sequence. His words may be simple, but really, that excited the base enough to get them all-so emotional. Yet it brings out a powerful message, a message of unity, a message to vote for John Kerry(04 Democratic presidential candidate) and with no partisanship among fellow Americans. (John Kerry lost the close election though, but hey, it wasn't Obama who lost).
What else makes a prefect orator? Well, you'll need the basics, like a meaningful speech and confidence, else you can forget about saying it like Obama. This book will, with details, tell you Obama's effective method to reach out to people with his eloquence. It's not just talking, but talking professionaly. A leader needs to inspire people and round his/her supporters up, and Obama has certainly rounded up 66,882,230 supporters, enough to be President. Therefore I recommend this book to anyone who wants to have the same level of charisma Obama has, also try reading his speech(it helps).
"It has been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America." Yes it has.
