Abdullah's reform Bills criticised
Summary:Prime Minister Abdullah Badawi presented his long-awaited reforms to Parliament yesterday when he tabled two Bills to set up new bodies to oversee judical appointments and fight corrouption. An UMNO MP told The Straits Times that he did not see how these Bills would change public perception about corruption,or raise confidence in judiciary. However, Mr Abdullah said it would not pose a problem as the PM would not carelessly disregard the commission's recommendations. He described the two Bills as an approach that can be accepted by all, and has called for the support of all MPs, including the opposition. BN has enough Mps to get boths bills passed even without the opposition's support.
My thoughts: Prime minister abdullah's aims for reforming bills to stop corruption is to show the people in Malaysia that he had did something for the nation by improving the Bills so that he would gain confidence from its people again. Voters were unhappy with his performance as he had not fufill his promise to stop corruption in Malaysia which hence made prime minster Mr Abdullah to lose several states of Malaysia to opposition parties. During the parliament, many opposed his proposed Bills as the Bills did not help much in preventing corruption. I think after the major loss during March had cause people and some of his BN mates to lose confidence with Mr abdullah. If the Bills were to be introduced and had not reduce the rate of corruption in malaysia, i believe the next election would be BN's downfall...
