Electricity Prices To be Cut by 25%.
Summary:
Electricity prices for the next three months will fall 25 per cent next month,as oil prices continue to slide.
Three-room households will see their average monthly power bills fall by about $20, while five-roomers will pay $34 less. They tool a hit when the tariffs for the last quarter of the year went up by 21 per cent- the biggest one-time hike in seven years. The Authority expects electricity prices to fall again for the second quarter of next year,as 'oil prices are coming down some more, and if this continues, electricity prices will continue to decline.
Opinion:
I think this news is certainly a welcome respite to everybody as we struggle with the economic downturn and rising costs. To me, this shouldn't be counted as a big fall in the electricity prices, because the prices increased in the last quarter. So, the electricity price should really fall in a small and minor percentage. The oil prices are very unstable. Although oil prices are expected to fall in the secong quarter of the year, but it may not happen. It may increase again. I think households should continue to save electricity despite the fall in the electricity price, because ultimately, the electricity prices is still very costly.
