Movie review 2

Movie title: Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull

Synopsis: Indiana Jones and the kingdom of the crystal skull finds Indy trying to outrace a brilliant and beautiful agent for the mystical, all-powerful crystal skull of Akator. Teaming up with a rebellious young biker and his spirited original love Marion, Indy takes you on an action-packed adventure in the exciting tradition of the classic Indiana Jones movie. In 1957, Colonel-Doctor Irina Spalko and a convoy of
Soviet agents posing as U.S. soldiers infiltrate a military base in the Nevada desert. They discovered a strong magnetic corpse of an alien which has a crystal skull. It then leads to a legend that whoever returns the skull to the temple of Akator, a Maya-style pyramid in the Amazon rainforest will gain the knowledge of everthing, which is gold to the ancient people. The group enters the temple and Indiana uses the skull to open the door to a chamber tomb, where thirteen crystal skeletons, one missing a skull, are seated on thrones. After the Soviets arrive and again reveal Mac's complicity, Spalko places the skull onto the skeleton. It begins communicating to the group through Oxley using an ancient Mayan dialect.

Thoughts and feelings: I personally think that if you are expecting Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to be a fourth in the series, you will be disappointed. The original three were set in the 1930s, looking for buried treasure in a Treasure of the Sierra Madre style. The new film is set in the 1950s, and that changes everything. The acting was also very good. I was very impressed by Cate Blanchett, and to my surprise very pleased with Shia LeBeouf's character and acting. It was kind of exciting when Spalko returned the skull and wanted to gain the knowledge of everything but in the end vanished into thin air due to her brain not being able to contain that much information. Her greediness in wanting to know everything in the world had consequences. It teaches us many life values such as not to be to greedy and a willingness to share things with others. Overall, I really appreciated the film as a whole, although some of the animation and action sequences seemed somewhat unfinished, or at least too difficult to believe. Still, it is an excellent 1950s serial, and I really hope we'll see at least one other Indy film set in this new era. It is a very good movie to watch, so buy its DVD or VCD if you want to catch the great action of Indiana Jones.

Overall rating:4/5

Will keep your review in mind. Perhaps I will go get the DVD. I didn't manage to catch the show and I did enjoy the previous Indiana Jones quite thoroughly.
