MOVIE REVIEW 1

Title: The Devil wears Prada (2006)

13+

Supposedly a Comedy-drama film(I did not find it funny), it is a loose screen adaptation of Lauren Weisberger's 2003 novel of the same name.

Wikipedia:

The movie is set in the fashion world, most designers and other fashion notables avoided appearing as themselves for fear of displeasing U.S. Vogue editor Anna Wintour, who is widely believed to have been the inspiration for Priestly. Many designers did, however, allow their clothes and accessories to be used in the film, making it the most expensively-costumed film in history.

The film zooms into a fashion magazine company's editor and her newly hired assistant. The editor has the final say of what goes into every issue of the magazine and her assistant will need to take care of her needs(morning coffee, phone calls, client meetings) like a servant. Since this editor is very famous and her assistant will be exposed all the latest fashion accessories and clothes, it is said many times in the show, 'millions of girl would kill for that job(the assistant)', even though the assistant will be more of a slave than just an assistant.
Andy(the newly hired assistant's nickname) at first was like a nerd who did not care much about fashion and wanted to use this job as a financial stepping stone for another ambition but later was sucked into the fashioned world by following the requirements of the job. This resulted her break up with her boyfriend and also spoiled the relationship with her other friends. In the end, she decided to walk out of this job and lead her previous simple life.
It took a while to underatand the title which says the devil wears Prada(a fashion brand name). This actually means that the temptation to do wrong things(the devil) would not come right at your face with its two horns on its head while holding a three-pronged trident, it would have a disguise and trick you in a way until you become unconscious of your wrong doings and your real values. The devil wears Prada.
I watched this movie with my friends through a DVD last weekend and we certainly can learn something from this. I am not sure if this was shown in Singapore before, nevertheless, one thumbs up.
