Title: Ex-prisoners take their hopes to new heights
Section: Home
Summary: Ex-convicts with this Yellow Ribbon Project, a campaign which seeks to reintegrate ex-offenders into society, toss “wishing spheres”, covered with their messages of hope, into the air.
About 10,000 white inflatable balls (“wishing spheres”) are being used as part of an annual year-end artistic project, to be featured at Marina Bay Singapore Countdown party on Dec 31. More than half are available to be signed by members of the public at 11 “wishing stations”. The rest of the balls will be signed by community groups, voluntary welfare organizations and schools.
Reflection: Yellow Ribbon Project has been going on for many years. It has worked with many companies and organizations to promote their activities and to convey important messages to the public. Having ex-offenders into society should not be a troublesome and difficult thing. The employers can try to be more understanding. Also, ex-convicts should have the right mindset. Yellow Ribbon Project has been coming up with different activities to help ex-convicts to return to society and make the society accept them. I think we should be more proactive and rely lesser on this organization.
