Story:
There is this belief that on sorry night, the night of winter solstice, just a few days before christmas, you have to snuff the lamps, douse the flames in the fireplace and spend the night in the cold and dark. If you don't ,the Vours will get you. The Vours are monster you can't see, the ones that crave the heat and light. They feed on your fear and then they possess you.
Reggie was reading this journal she found called the devouring to her brother, henry, as a bedtime story on the night before sorry night.Reggie is a geek and is interested in such supernatural stuff. She decided to try the midnight ritual to see if she could really encounter the vour. On sorry night, she test the ritual but nothing happened to her. However, it was Henry encountered the Vour. , because he could not forget the story and was so scared, his blue peguin night lamp was on.The light led the Vour into Henry's room, the Vour devoured his fear and possessed him.
Henry started to act weirdly. And it took Reggie a while to noticed that Henry was being possessed by the Vour. Reggie knew she had to save Henry from his nightmare. So, reggie, together with her best friend, Aaron, they embark on a mission to save Henry.
Opinion:
I picked this book because the cover was quite cool, with the guy crying in pain while he bleeds and his flesh rotting and stuffs. I think the sinister evil parts are the core of the story.
Ever since Reggie's mom walked on them a year ago, Reggie had been Henry's 'mom' , catering to his every need. I think that reggie know her duties in her family and very disciplined, she seldom complains about her chores.Reggie is blaming herself for telling Henry the story. Hence, she knew she had to end his nightmare. She devoured her fear,by eating huge spiders. She went all out to get her brother back, by sacrificing herself such as struggling to survive a slice from axe blades through her right shoulder into her flesh.
Being a good friend to reggie, Aaron helped Reggie to rescue Henry back. He was very resourseful and was very sharp, he could identify clues to solve the mystery.
I hope there is a second book to this book.
