Title: My unexpected teacher
Author: Muhammad Fairuz Bin Abdullah
Summary: Muhammad Fairuz Bin Abdullah started visiting the neurology ward at Dr. Sajdjito Hospital last year. One day, he was in the neurology ward looking for the final three patients he needed to complete his study. The records showed that there was a 43-year-old stroke patient, whom he will call Ms A, in the ward. She shared her difficulties and all he did was nod his head as a way of showing his sympathy. Ms a taught him a lesson which is sometimes patients do not need expensive medicine or state-of-the-art technology, They just need someone with patience and willingness to lend an ear and spare a little o their time.
Reflection: Lending a listening ear to patients is one of the best things a doctor can do for the patients. In the story, Muhammad Fairuz Bin Abdullah said that when Ms A was talking about her life, he had begun holding her hands without realizing it. This is a good way for Ms A to pour out her problems. She must be very grateful towards Muhammad Fairuz Bin Abdullah for giving her this chance. Because she kept everything to herself for too long, she became weaker physically and mentally. He lends her an ear to release her long-kept stress and give her care and concern. A few days later, Ms A was discharged as her condition had improved.
Ps: Giving is never accidental, it is always intentional.
