Born To Rock {book review #1}

Hi everybody,i just read this book called Born To Rock by Gordon Korman.This book is about a guy called Leo Caraway who just finished high school and is looking forward to going to Harvad.Due to some circiumstances,Leo doesn't get the scholarship.His marks are good enough to get him to Harvad,though.The problem is that his parents cant afford to fork out 40 grands for his Haravad fees.There was something else in store for Leo.One day he saw that his name on his birthcertificate was Leo X. Mcmurphy.He asks his mum and dad about this issue.His dad wanted to tell him the truth but his mum stopped him.Then the next day as Leo was going through his best friend,Melinda's [a goth,who spends most of her time listening to punk-rock music],blog he catches the glimpse of the name King Maggot,born Marion X. Mcmurphy.King Maggot was the lead singer of the most angriest and notorious punk rock band in the USA,Purge, which had announced reunion in the coming week.They had broken up 18 years ago.Leo was wondering if whether this was a coincidence or not.But how many Marion X.Mcmurphy could there have been in America.His parents finally tell him the truth.17 years ago, Mrs.Caraway had been to a Purges's concert.She was only 22 year old single and her friends had got the backstage passes.After the concert King Maggot met Mrs.Caraway.One year after that she met Mr.Caraway and they both got married.Mr.caraway had accepted Leo as his son as he loved Mrs.Caraway alot.After finding out this Leo's mind lightens up.This is the only way of getting into Harvad.His biological dad is a rock star and rock stars are dead rich.Melinda was going to attend Purge's reunion press conference and she had got tickets for him too.Leo wrote a letter and decided that he would somehow get to the front and pass it to King Maggot.He managed to do that and the next day he was facing king maggot himself in his house.King maggot examined him carefully and after 10 whole minutes confirmed that Leo is his son.That is because all Mcmurphy sons had a ear lobe on thier left ear.Leo like King maggot had it too.But King maggot couldn't remember Leo's mum.He however told his Purge's manager,Bernie[also King maggot's cousin],to arrange a DNA test.The results would have been out in a month so King told Leo to tour with Purge as a roadie as this will be a good chance to get to know him.King maggot wasn't married and had no children.Therefore, he didn't have an experience of parenting.Leo's parents agrees with him traveling with King as this was the only way thier son would get into Harvad.

This whole book is about Father-son relationship,music and abit of friendship.Near the end of the there is sharp twist in the story.Its also very exciting to see how Leo's life changes when he finds out that his bio dad is actually a rock star!!!

I would suggest this book for all teenagers especially those who are intrested in Rock music and for those who want to know how to have a good relationship with your dads.Or maybe i should say how a dad should have a good relation with his child.So all rock musicians please read this.Thank You.
