I feel that Asia is recognisied as a power to be reckoned with in the world today.
A very good example will be the Beijing Olympic Games in China. The Olympics was never held in Asia before and Beijing has the honour to hold the world’s 29th Olympics. To prepare for the Olympics, Beijing made much effort in cutting down the amount of pollution from the cars by imposing a rule. In the past, Beijing’s skyline was hazy; however the skyline is like Singapore’s now. Beijing also created 5 mascots, namely Beibei, Jingjing, Huanhuan, Yingying and Nini. Moreover, they managed to complete the Olympic torch relay despite the Tibetan issue which affected the speed of the relay. These actions have been noted and are receiving worldwide attention.
China, also known as the rising dragon today, has the largest population which makes up 60% of the world’s total population. Not only does it have human resources, it also has an abundant amount of natural resources and land, thus making the labour and production cost cheaper and production fast. Because of this advantage, China attracts many foreign investments hence the economy booms there. Besides China’s growing economy, The government is also growing stronger with the country too. Do you remember the May 12th Si Chuan earthquake? Premier Wen had demonstrated good leadership qualities by being decisive and caring. Surprisingly, he dispatched the rescue army immediately to various affected areas and even went to some of the areas personally to better understand the situation of his people.
Moving on to India, India’s technology and engineering is indeed a niche. Take Dubai for example, it is one of the world’s fastest developing city and the architecture of the building and layout of the land are wonderfully amazing. You would see many palm shaped land with neatly arranged houses if you were on an helicopter. Of course, India has one of the highest population growth rates (1.587%) in the world. Like China, it is a vast piece of land and many resources to choose from.
Singapore, nicknamed the little red dot, also contributes a lot to the world in spite the small population and resources we have as compared to China or India. The people constantly export their expertise to other parts of the world and also help others by doing voluntary work overseas. Since Singapore is known for her excellent education, the people have also exchanged pointers and gave materials to countries such as the USA and China. Besides these, Singapore is also known for her good governance over the past 43 years.
For all of the Asian countries, they have a rich culture and heritage. This is something that is very valuable to everyone, however some non-Asian countries have this.
So, I believe that Asia is recognisied as a power to be reckoned with in the world.
