I do not think that the punishment was too light.

First, before he killed his ex-girlfriend, he went to 3 people and told them what he would do. Although the 3 tales to 3 different people were not entirely similar, the main point of each of the tales was that he wanted to use the rifle to commit a crime. He told the tales to his buddy, Ong Boon Jun and Lieutenant Choo. As a Lieutenant, he should know better than to allow him to loan a rifle, even if the reason was to commit suicide. Afterall, if he did try to persuade Teo not to kill himself OR the people he hated, maybe he could have guided him to a psychiatrist. It may have helped him?

Second, Teo came from a broken home and was an abused child. His father was often in jail. I think that this fact about his family can explain his actions. He has already been abused since he was young and it means that he did not have the love from his family that he should have. Maybe that was when he would have some mental problems. When he grows older, he seeks love in others, like in having a girlfriend. He has been with the girl for over 3 years and it shows that he most probably has been 'serious' with this girl. So it would be quite hard for him to take emotionally after breaking up, which led to his actions. This incident may have reminded him of his past and made him break down emotionally, which caused him to take his actions and do the
wrong things he did.

Lastly, it's not about the amount of years and the amount of cane strokes that determine the severity of the punishment. Being at the age of only 20, 9years in jail would make a lot of difference for him in society when he comes out. It is very wrong to steal a rifle and commit murder with it, but how did he manage to steal it? Have anything happened before? Could it have been some mistakes of other people that led him or guided him to this? I do not mean that he was right in doing so, but could it have been an effect because of something else that happened?

I think that the selling of organs should be legalised only if people only sell organs that would not directly affect the survival of the people. For example, selling of kidneys could be lagalised, since people can survive with 1 kidney alone and still work perfectly well. However, organs such as the heart should not be legalised because it is completely ridiculous to do so.

I believe that most of the people who want to sell their organs needs financial assistance. Nowadays, people value money even more than their own life, and so this case of people selling their organs should just be considered as another mean to get money fast. Thus, i feel that this should be legalised as it would help people earn money and the needy people to get an organ transplant quicker.

However, it would bring about a weird situation. People may over rely on selling organs to earn money and abandon normal work. So, i feel that the selling of organs can only be legalised if people are only allowed to sell their organs in extreme financial conditions or if patients in the country are really in desperate need for the organs.
