1) I thought it was a justified sentence for him. The heavy sentence acts as a deterrent. If he gets a light sentence for his misdeed, people may think that it is no big deal and even try to follow in his footsteps.
Firstly, leaving the designated camp armed with rifle and bullets illegally is no joke, plus he was out on the loose with a planned mission to kill. I think that he is betraying the trust of the one who has given him the permission to take care of the rifle, and also the society out there. What will they think if they see someone out there armed with a rifle and bullets? Well, of course they may think the SAF may be going out on a daily patrol along the streets for security purposes. But what if it was someone with a motive in mind? This will put many innocent lives in danger, especially so in this age of increased security concerns everywhere. He should not do such a thing for his own purposes, or just to seek revenge. Reputation of the SAF will definitely be tarnished. Every NSmen is told to protect and defend his country with his life. He did violate this.
Secondly, I do agree that part of a reason was that he was traumatised at a very young age with very disturbing upbringing. But throughout his schooling years, he could have gotten some help from the teachers or counsellors and not to worsen his behavioural problems again. Also, teachers should be aware of his state and keep a look out for him. It may be due to his family background that resulted in his introverted behaviour in school. Teachers should also play a part in trying to talk to their parents about care and concern for him. It may be difficult, but it's worth a try. Next he should have a good talk with his girlfriend. Love can always be healthy as long as each party's is aware of what they are doing/thinking. But it can turn sour if anything goes wrong, and this was what happened to Teo. I believe he should try to sort things out within himself and correct oneself by not being so possesive. Being friends/ or very good pals is still a feasible idea. There's no need for death.
2) I feel negative about the sale of organs. Many body parts should not be bought and sold, allowing organ trading would only advantage the rich and exploit the poor. To make things worse, the people are ignorant of what the rich people intend to do with their organs. This is obviously not a win-win situation. I feel that this is super unfair to the defenseless poor and maybe the desperate ones. It is not ethical and moral.
But looking at it from another point of view, desperate people need money and therefore selling their organs for some money. As i've not really been desperate for money before, i can make many comments i want about the desperation in them, but if i really need the money to feed my family and survive, i may really consider that. And if i really need an organ for survival and i've found a willing party, i may really go with the transplant.
People should be educated.
