Title: Winners all on new flights to KL
The Straits Times Section: B2
Thoughts on the article...
As stated in the article, the skies between Singapore and Kuala Lumpur have finally been opened with the new addition of budget flights. The number of people taking the flights have increased by 60% compared to 01 December 2008.On a comment by a SIA spokesman:;so far all the flights have been generally heavy with some flights full or very near full. With the cheap cost and the convenience,a lot now choose to take the plane then the classic coach ride to KL.With morning flights being a good thing for people on business trips to KL I believe we can see a growing growth in the number of people taking flights to KL.
This just shows that transport services are now even getting much more advanced.Even short distances like Singapore and KL now have flights. What can we expect next.Personally I believe that this might just be due to us people getting a little bit more lazier and wanting more comfort. We now don’t want to do anything else that might be so called giving us a `hard time”.We like living comfortably and don like to strain ourselves so much.Even in choosing our jobs we look for jobs that are air-conditioned,near an MRT station etc. What can we expct in a growing world in technological advancemaent.Does all this make us more unwilling to leave our own comfort zone until one day we become to used to it and cannot expect changes.
I am not saying that it is not good to have all this advancements laid out for us,it is a good thing as it makes our life easier.Based on the growing need to get to KL for work, businessman welcomes the new convenience. This is also appreciated by students studying in KL.Overall I think that this is a good thing to happen as it shows us how much Singapore is capable of even though we are facing a time of economic recession. So for now lets enjoy this new benefit and use it to the fullest advantage.Have a trip to KL during this holidays.Happy Holidays
Syam.
