Newspaper review 1

day of article: 3rd December, Wednesday 2008
title: India warned of likely attacks  (Mumbai attacks aftermath)
section:the straits time, world

intro:it has come to light that there were ample warnings from intelligence agencies both foreign and domestic, about a terrorist attack on hotels and other targets in Mumbai, but inexplicably they were either not acted upon or came too late in the day. this resulting in the death toll of more than 150.

summary: would you still fall into a trap when knowing there is one? as far as i know any human being wouldn't. then why is it then that the Indian government refused to pay heed to the warnings and landed itself into the traps of the terrorists?if they had only taken a moment
to take into consideration the information, lives would have been saved, casualties would have been prevented, buildings would have remained intact and Singapore wouldn't have lost a valuable citizen. so why is that the Indian government refused to take notice of all the warnings? is it because of the corrupted Indian government who are only intent on saving up more money or is it plain ignorance that nothing bad would happen to India? if this were the first time that India was facing such a disaster people would have been more understanding. But the fact that there has been an attack on Mumbai in 1993 causes eyebrows to be raised as people question how can this happen again? commandos who were supposed to be expert on matters like these made faulty errors causing more lives to be lost. it would be lovely to sit back and relax and start imagining what would happen if an attack like this had never happened. but it did. and instead of pointing fingers and blaming Pakistan for the attack the Indian government should start thinking of what has triggered the attacks and how do they prevent such an attack? how do people regain their trust in the government after such and inexcusable mistake? well its time that the indian government starts to pick up their feet and make sure that such an error like this does not occur again. i'm glad that  singapore is a safe country and i live in the contempt that i'm safe. :)
