Movie review 2

Synopsis:
Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon play Brad and Kate, a happy couple dating for 3 years with no intention to get married or have kids. Every Christmas, they spin up new lies to avoid obligatory visits to their respective families and to prevent much awkwardness. Instead, they go on a variety of tropical vacations and this year’s destination is Fiji. But when dense fog grounds their plane from taking off, the two get wormed into visiting their four separate families all in one day.

From one dysfunctional family to the next, the two bounce from one family to the other and encounter with rowdy children, disgruntled fathers, vomiting babies, pregnancy tests and one-time best friend now dating Brad’s mother. It’s ludicrously silly, but nonetheless mindless entertainment and probably the root source of all the comedy.

Then, things take a turn for the worse near the end as comedy is abandoned, and Brad and Kate are faced with real life issues they must deal with. Through this Christmas day, the couple make bitter-sweet discoveries about the importance of family and being truthful to each other.

Reflection:
As the movie develops towards the final act, the story plot gets rather predictable as Kate and Brad both begin to realize what they want from each other in their relationship. This makes the storyline just mediocre as we can expect the expected. Although the film had some funny moments which set the audience roaring with laughter, it isn’t enough to make the movie worthwhile.
sFor their part, Witherspoon and Vaughn are a virtual yin and yang. Witherspoon, as the well-mannered Kate, is controlled and restrained while Vaughn, play the free wheeling Brad. The two leads may not have great chemistry, but they do make a great comedic duo.

This doesn't make it a bad movie; it just makes it a movie that you were enjoying at first but ultimately got bored of. After all, there are some good family morals which we can pick up at the end of the day.” Four Christmases” is a meagre 82 minutes movie which doesn't demand a lot of your time and can offer some hearty laughs. Thus it’s recommended for those sit back, relax, and enjoy this holiday flick with the company of your family.
