Article: Getting to grips with Ebola scare
The Straits Times Pg A17

Brief overview:
Pigs in farms of northern Philippines have been infected with a strain of Ebola virus that has originated from monkeys. Before this, there are only records of Ebola strains being transferred from monkeys to humans and causes hundreds of deaths in Africa. But this time round, the virus has infected a new animal species and thus its impact to humans is currently unknown. At least the Philippine had did a great job on handling the infection of Ebola, the government had already ask three global health organization to send scientist to do experiments. But consuming pork is still considered save as long as the meat is fully cooked before consumption.

Reflection:
I personally am concern about the testing of the Ebola virus strain. It may turn out to be like SARS or the Bird Flu where humans will die if the contracted the virus. But I still have faith in the scientist that have been send to Philippines to investigate the virus that they will destroy it if it will have an effect on humans.
But overall, it is still our fault that this kind of disease spreads. If humans had not been greedy and cut down trees, virus such as HIV and Ebola would not have passed from the monkeys to us……
