Newspaper Review #3

Date: 6th December 208
Title: Happiness is infectious
From: The Straits Times, Prime Page A28

Summary:
A research of over 20 years of over 4700 people found people who are happy or become happy boost the chances that someone they know will be happy. The research follows previous work by Prof Christakis and co-author James Fowler that found that obesity appears to spread from person to person. The power of happiness can span another degree of separation, elevating the mood of that person's husband, wife, sibling, friend or neighbour. This article states that happy people tend to be better off in myriad ways, being more creative, productive and healthy.

Reflections:
After reading this article, I was pleased to know that a simple thing such as happiness is contagious, just like flu! Imagine happiness which everyone is capable of expressing has all sorts of benefits. It allows you to ignite your creativity, be productive, protects your immune system, and allows your body to produce less stress hormones, not forgetting making others happy too.
Since being happy have its benefits, I think that it is good to make some joy and spread the love. We can always start off with our family for instance. I believe that simple actions such as pouring a glass of water or sweeping the floor will help your parents brighten their days. Giving presents and helping others in need will not only make the person thankful and happy, it also allows you to feel a sense of satisfaction and contentment.
