Title: Tuesdays with Morrie
Author: Mitch Albom
"An old man, a young man, and life's greatest lesson"
Synopsis:
It tells the true story of Morrie Schwartz and his relationship with his student, Mitch Albom. Mitch Albom recounts his time spent with an old professor, Morrie Schwartz, who was dying from Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Albom had not seen or corresponded with Schwartz since attending his college classes sixteen years earlier. After Albom saw a terminal Schwartz on ABC's Nightline talking with Ted Koppel about his experience with death and dying, Albom contacted Schwartz. This book was based entirely on tape-recorded conversations between Albom and Schwartz about life’s most important lessons throughout thirteen Tuesdays.
Reflection:
It is a very touching book that teaches us about values of life. All of us are living in a world that focuses more on material things like money and power, and most of us tend to forget the basic yet important values and aspects of life which can't be replaced by any other things. We are always not satisfied with what we have and are always wanting to gain more. I feel that cherishing the people and things we have now is very important, so that we will not regret after we lose them.
The quotes that I like most from this book are:
- The most important thing in life is to learn how to give out love, and to let in come in.
- Once you learn how to die, you learn how to live.
- Money is not a substitute for tenderness, and power is not a substitute for tenderness.
- Death ends a life, not a relationship.
I would recommend this book as it is a very meaningful book and it will let you understand more about the values of life.
