Summary: Slammed by one crisis after another- natural, financial, man-made, 2008 has left many breathless with dread. It has been a year marked by stormy upheavals. And mroe bad news than good, from natural disasters in various forms to the worst crisis to rock the world economy since the 1930s as well as the widening reach of terrorism.

I URGE you to click on the links and look through its comments!It really lets you realise how terrible the world is, with you being surrounded by war and man-made tragedies.
My Opinion:
Since war is such a cruel thing, why are we still fighting? The Afghanistan war may have been triggered by the '911' tragedy. But i do not see the reason why the war should carry on. Why must they harm the civilians? Do not tell me they are suspected terrorists. Many innocents are injured badly and i just feel that it is not worth it. "If war is the answer, it must be a very stupid question" quoted from and american.
And regarding the China tainted milk scandal, I think it is really selfish of those who never consider the far-reaching effects of their selfish act. Just because of these people and companies, 6,244 infants were sick and it may damage their kidneys and body. It is just unfair that people have to suffer because of others' selfish gains. I think they should be punished severly, not only by giving them a fine!
Lastly, i really feel fortunate to be living in a country like Singapore, who is terrorist-free and natural disasters free at the moment and we should cherish these moment. We should also show pity for those who are less fortunate than us and lend them a helping hand in terms of money or physical. When i grow up, i want to be a volunteer overseas!im serious.
