School is ????

To me, a school is a not only about being a platform that provides us students an opportunity to learn about textbook knowledge, but also serve as a gateway to educate us on different values like integrity, respect and responsibility and also encourages us to learn and equipped ourselves with various inter-personal skills like critical thinking, teambuilding, creativity and innovativeness through project works. Under an efficient education system, schools tend to prepare us to shine bright not only in terms of academic performance, but also in niche areas like sports and Co-curricular activities. It is also in schools that students could be offer chances to enter the gateways to Ivy Leagues like Harvard, Princeton or Cambridge Universities.

Besides all these, school also brings me the pleasure of happiness to know and make more friends. It is in this place which bonds different people of different races, religions together and create a strong friendship relationship between people. The importance of mutual trust is often achieved between friends or classmates in school. Also, learning experience comes alive here in schools where students are exposed to the outside world through field trips or outdoor lessons.
In this cosmopolitan society, school also help us to learn social skills through interacting with classmates, teachers, friends and many more…Besides social skills, exposure to various ethnic groups culture and tradition is also achieved when different people of races interact together under one roof in school.

However, it is sad to know that school is also hell to some students. According to the Straits Times article reported earlier this year, the cases of school-bullying are still rising large in numbers. To those “unlucky” students who are bullied in school, school turns to be a depressing place for them to enter after their souls or body are abused verbally or physically by others.

In conclusion, schools offer us a world of opportunities to excel in different areas, and also bring heavenly happiness to majority of students, except of the handful of students which think that school is hell after they experience bullied in schools.
